The Human Service Campus (HSC) provides a useful example of Practice C1 in action. Located in downtown Phoenix, HSC serves individuals experiencing homelessness by bringing together multiple organizations with different areas of expertise in one geographic location. The staff of the HSC take an empathetic, individualized approach to their work, taking time to understand each of their clients’ unique needs, stories—their cultures and contexts. This perspective taking and empathy-building helps them provide access to solutions that are customized and most likely to result in stable housing and improved circumstances.
